The Montgomery County Commissioners have released a Proposed 2025 Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan (2025-2029). This budget – which will be voted on at the Board of Commissioners meeting on December 19 at 10 a.m. in Norristown – was designed to maintain the County’s commitment to fiscal responsibility while ensuring delivery of effective, high-quality services and programs to County constituents. Residents are invited to review the proposed budget on our website and share their thoughts by email, mail (Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, P.O. Box 311, Norristown, PA 19404) or during one of our upcoming public budget hearings in December.

In the run up to the 2024 General Election, our County vowed to administer a safe, secure and accessible election. With Election Day behind us, are proud to say that we accomplished exactly that. While the work continues for our Voter Services team, this success would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of all those who put in long hours before, during and after the election to deliver our residents with timely results they can be confident in. Montco and partners allocate funding for emergency shelters |
County enacts 30-day countywide burn ban |
Our Commissioners have allocated funding to make sure potentially life-saving Code Blue shelters are available to those in need this winter. Additionally, they have also taken necessary steps to further support year-round emergency shelter operations.

The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners have approved a 30-day, countywide ban on open fires, effective Saturday, November 16 at 12 p.m. The use of propane or gas stoves, charcoal briquette grills, or the use of tobacco in any form is still permitted.

Help Montco families in need this holiday season |
Montgomery County is hosting several donation drives this fall and winter to support local families in need. The drives will collect essential items including new coats, food, toys, and gift cards. If you are able, please consider donating to the following drives: · Winter Coat Drive (now through January 3, 2025). Seeking donations of new coats only! · Thanksgiving Food & Gift Card Drive (dates vary). Seeking non-perishable food items or grocery store gift cards. · Toy & Gift Card Drive (now through December 24, 2024). Collecting toys and gift cards for children and families in need.

Montco appoints members of new Commission for LGBT+ Affairs |
Last month, the Montgomery County Commissioners unanimously voted to appoint 21 members to the County’s first-ever Commission for LGBTQIA+ Affairs. The members of this new commission will advise the County Commissioners and Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer on issues and opportunities facing the LGBTQIA+ communities in Montgomery County.

Don’t let a prior offense keep you from making a fresh start. Meet with an advocate on Tuesday, November 26 at 4 p.m. for a free virtual expungement clinic sponsored by the County Public Defender’s Office to see if you are eligible to have past convictions removed from your record.

Now seeking opioid remediation project ideas and proposals |
We are now accepting proposals and mini-grant submissions (max. award of $20,000) for projects that combat the opioid crisis. Service providers, community-based agencies, and County departments that offer services to Montgomery County residents are invited to submit their proposals and ideas before December 31, 2024.

Our County historic sites are starting to get into the spirit of the season this month. Stop by Pottsgrove Manor in Pottstown from Friday, November 29 through Sunday, January 12 for a guided Twelfth Night Tour showcasing seasonal celebrations and traditions from the 18th century. Meanwhile, on Saturday, November 30 at 4 p.m., Pennypacker Mills in Schwenksville will delve into the tale behind the tale of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. |
