UPDATE: Alan Wood Road Utility Construction Now Beginning Next Tuesday
August 26, 2025 – The Montgomery County Commissioners announced today that underground PECO utility construction has been rescheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 2, on Alan Wood Road through the intersection with Ridge Pike in Plymouth Township.
The work will take place from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM on weekday nights through mid-October and will require intermittent lane closures on Alan Wood Road for the duration of the work, and intermittent lane closures on Ridge Pike for the first three weeks of construction.
The work includes installing a new PECO duct bank 12 feet below the roadway, which will be completed working from north-to-south starting at the jug handle at the intersection of Ridge Pike and Alan Wood Road.
Installation of the new duct bank will clear the path for the completion of a new sanitary sewer through the intersection.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone because backups and delays may occur. Steel plates will cover the trench on Alan Wood Road and on Ridge Pike at the intersection during non-working hours. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe travel speed through the work zone due to the presence of the steel plates.
